Edit Assistant – Amsterdam

In this role you will work with the global Edit Assistant and Production teams to hit our swift delivery schedules, initiate, and upkeep workflows, and ignite progression for yourself as much as your team.

Please note, that this role is based on-site in our Amsterdam office.

 

KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES​
  • Handling media in a variety of formats: backing up rushes, transcoding proxies, converting masters, ingesting media, syncing interviews with audio, syncing multicam, sorting sequences, laying down stems, conforming, creating AAF and exports files.
  • Support with troubleshooting technical difficulties (software and hardware), addressing and flagging where support is required. Troubleshooting basic technical problems before referral to Supervisor
  • Daily upkeep of AVID, Premiere, Nexis, and storage system.
  • Maintaining high-level of communication between edit assist team, Production, and other internal teams.
  • QC and delivery of files to broadcasters, delivery partners, client approval files, TV clearance files and online, audio prep
  • Ensure all freelancers, new starters and current editorial staff work according to the agreed technical setup for projects, and proactively address if not
  • Provide guidance and local training to freelancers on our bespoke workflows
  • Maintain and improve current knowledge of relevant technology and practices to provide support to the wider business
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of new equipment
  • Support the development, review and maintenance of appropriate documentation and guidelines on local knowledge for Creatives and freelance staff
  • Ensure output is technically correct, being confident in using key equipment to assist the online process
  • Write workflow and case studies of new processes and solutions found to our technical problems.
  • R&D to ensure we’re always up to date and efficient software and hardware wise.
  • Leadership in the daily support and long-term improvements of file-based processes
  • Creative offline editing
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS​
  • 2 years min. of full-time employment in post-production, as an assistant or operator
  • Working experience of broadcast / theatrical / streaming deliveries
  • Proficiency with complex HD and UHD workflows (codecs, rates, ratios, channels)
  • Awareness of HDR current practices
  • Command of shoot to finish media management (back-up, ingest, transcode, conform, delivery and archive)
  • Grasp of colour space, transparency and LUTs
  • Insight of all forms of localising and versioning (subtitles, gfx replacement, dubbing, re-racking)
  • Track record of supporting Offline and Online edits
  • Vision to propose, refine and upkeep development (technical and personal)
  • Professional level written and spoken English
  • The legal right to work in the EU and/or The Netherlands
  • The ability to manage deadlines and priorities

 

Desirable Skills

  • Fluent Dutch speaker with a second or third language a plus
  • Knowledge of any other industry-related software
  • General knowledge of IT or scripting
  • Knack for general problem-solving and troubleshooting hardware, software
  • Confidence to be assertive and take initiative when needed
  • Good communicator with the ability to spark team spirit
